Summit County Educational Service Center
The Board of Governors of the Summit County Educational Service Center met in regular session at
the Educational Service Center on Wednesday, April 18, 2007, with President Alyce Altwies presiding.
Upon roll call, the following members answered present: Mrs. Alyce Altwies, Mrs. Susan Lobalzo,
Mrs. Jennifer Troyer and Mr. Dow Wolfe. Mr. Ray Weber was absent. Resolution #07-55
Mrs. Troyer moved, seconded by Mrs. Lobalzo to approve the minutes from the March 20, 2007,
regular meeting as printed and submitted.
Mrs. Troyer moved, seconded by Mr. Wolfe to approve the financial reports and check roster for
Mrs. Lobalzo moved, seconded by Mr. Wolfe to approve revisions to FY 2007 SM1 and revisions to
Mrs. Lobalzo moved, seconded by Mrs. Troyer to enter into purchased service agreements with the
following individuals for presenter services during the five-day T.E.A.C.C.H. workshop. All contracts are contingent upon receiving the number of registrations needed to conduct the workshop:
a) Kay Stanley Bryson, not to exceed $1,808.00 (speaker and set-up fee, plus mileage) b) Sloane Burgess, not to exceed $1,986.00 (speaker and set-up fee, plus mileage) c) Noreen Flannery, not to exceed $1,931.00 (speaker and set-up fee, plus mileage) d) Christy LaPaglia, not to exceed $1,951.00 (speaker and set-up fee, plus mileage) e) Steven Love, not to exceed $3,200.00 (speaker fee and set up fee) f) Steven Love, not to exceed $2,100.00 (airfare, hotel, meals and transportation)

a) Five MacBook Pros, with monitors, parallels, and AppleCare protection plan, for MEO/SERRC staff, from
The Apple Store, for an amount not to exceed $13,089.75.
b) Up to 70 video Ipod’s from CDWG for the Chinese Cultural Immersion program at a cost not to exceed
$21,000.00. The Ipods will be paid for through the Dual Credit for Language grant and will become the property of the SCESC.
c) Expenditure of $14,200.00 to Teaching & Learning in China/The University of Akron, for the remaining
balance due for the participants in the Chinese Language and Cultural Immersion trip to China in May, 2007.
Mrs. Lobalzo moved, seconded by Mr. Wolfe to enter into a contract for services with the following:
a) Division of TEACCH, Asheville, NC, not to exceed $3,500.00, fee for Center Director and Lead Teacher
(contingent upon receiving the number of registrations needed to conduct the workshop).
b) Growing Good Kids, Inc., $345.00 per day, not to exceed 45 days during the 2007-2008 school year, to
provide an enrichment teacher to Twinsburg City Schools.
c) Reading & Language Arts Centers, Inc., not to exceed $32,262.00 for 5-day MEO/SERRC workshop on June
11-15, 2007 (contingent upon receiving the number of registrations needed to conduct the workshop).
d) Sopris West, not to exceed $12,500.00, for 5-day MEO/SERRC workshop on August 13-17, 2007(contingent
upon receiving the number of registrations needed to conduct the workshop).
e) Contract with Metropolitan Regional Service Council of Governments for NEOnet fiscal agent services,
NEOnet staff and NEOnet facilities for the period July 1, 2007, and ending June 30, 2008.
