DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES OF CURRENT JOB: The Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) is the think tank of the Egyptian Cabinet of Ministers. As the chairman of IDSC, my duties include: 1. To improve the Government's capacity to address long term and cross-cutting strategic issues 2. To promote innovation in policy development 3. To carry out strategy reviews and provide policy advice in accordance with the Cabinet's policy priorities 4. To identify and effectively disseminate thinking on emerging issues and challenges through seminars and workshops 5. To emphasis on analytical rigor and evidence-based approach when presenting options to policy makers 6. To ensure that a holistic and cross-cutting approach is taken and to lay the ground for effective implementation of developmental programs

8. Providing leadership to experts, researchers and staff, emphasizing capacity building, creating a learning environment, motivating critical thinking and new ideas. ACHIEVEMENTS DURING CURRENT JOB: 1. Raising the profile of issues and re-framing the way in which they are considered such as:
• The importance of future studies and strategic thinking throughout organizing an
international conference on a future vision for Egypt, encouraging the production of working papers on future issues and promoting capacity building for junior researchers in the area of future studies;
• Contributing in combating corruption by pioneering the design and production of the
first Egyptian index for perceived corruption. The index was based on a large representative national survey (nearly 14 thousand interviews) and provided estimates on the local and sectoral levels. Dissemination of the index in the media (specially independent newspapers and TV) contributed significantly in opening an evidence based dialogue on the need for more transparency;
• The role of public opinion polling in good governance throughout organizing
conferences, TV interviews, and public lectures.
• The importance of issuing a law for freedom of information throughout organizing a
national conference with full partnership from civil society, TV and radio interviews and public lectures.
2. Positive impacts on economic and social outcomes: Suggesting, designing and implementing a number of surveys to fill the info gap to improve decision making and good governance in a number of developmental problems 3. Building strategic capabilities in IDSC and in different governmental agencies: Designing a training program on decision support for employees in ministries. 4. Stakeholder feedback: Communicating on a periodical basis results of public opinion polls on different issues to Prime Minister and senior decision makers. 5.
