The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? One thing I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: To live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple. *HYMN 476 O Worship the King, All Glorious Above! O worship the King, all glorious above, O gratefully sing God’s power and God’s love; Our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days, Pavilioned in splendor, and girded with praise. O tell of God’s might, O sing of God’s grace, Whose robe is the light, whose canopy space, The chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form, And bright is God’s path on the wings of the storm. The earth with its store of wonders untold, Almighty, Thy power hath founded of old; Established it fast by a changeless decree, And round it hath cast, like a mantle, the sea. Thy bountiful care, what tongue can recite? It breathes in the air, it shines in the light; It streams from the hills, it descends to the plain, And sweetly distills in the dew and the rain. Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail, In Thee do we trust, nor find Thee to fail; Thy mercies how tender, how firm to the end, Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend. Gracious Lord, your face, turned toward us, is our light and our salvation. Do not hide your face from us! Do not turn away from us in anger! We confess how often we have turned away from you-distracted by chores and obligations, embroiled in quarrels and contests, reluctant to follow your lead and live lives marked by obedience and sacrifice. O God, arouse us to repentance. Help us to heed our hearts, for they tell us to seek your face. Amen. *RESPONSE TO FORGIVENESS (from Hymn 387 Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us)Savior, like a shepherd lead us, Much we need Thy tender care; In thy pleasant pastures feed us, For our use Thy folds prepare: Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, Thou hast bought us, Thine we are; Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, Thou hast bought us, Thine we are. Thou hast promised to receive us, Poor and sinful though we be; Thou hast mercy to relieve us, Grace to cleanse, and power to free: Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, Early let us turn to Thee; Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, Early let us turn to Thee. THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM (9:15 and 11:00)Children are invited to come forward and sit in the front pews during the baptism. Do you believe in God, the Father almighty? I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. Do you believe in Jesus Christ? I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead; On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. Do you believe in the Holy Spirit? I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
Let us welcome the newly baptized. All: With joy and thanksgiving we welcome you into Christ’s church to share with us in his ministry for we are all one in Christ. RESPONSE (from Hymn 498, “Child of Blessing,”) Child of blessing, child of promise, Baptized with the Spirit's sign, With this water God has sealed you Unto love and grace divine. Child of God, your loving Parent, Learn to listen for God's call. Grow to laugh and sing and worship, Trust and love God more than all. God of mercy, you promised never to break your covenant with us. Amid all the changing words of our generation, speak your eternal Word that does not change. Rohana Chase, Danielle Chung, Jeanna Qiu, Allegra Whiting, violoncello
The Lord is my light, the refuge of my life and my salvation; of whom then shall I be afraid? If I
take the wings of the morning, or go up into heaven, your right hand will hold me. In the shadow
of your wings I will rejoice and bless your holy Name; and I will sing of your Glory, O Lord my
SECOND SCRIPTURE READING: Matthew 4:12-23 Thanks be to God. Christ of the upward way, my Guide divine, Where You have set your feet, may I place mine; And move and march wherever You have trod, Keeping face forward up the hill of God. Give me the heart to hear Thy voice and will, That without fault or fear I may fulfill Your purpose with a glad and holy zest, Like one who would not bring less than his best. Christ of the upward way, my Guide divine, Where You have set Your feet, may I place mine; And when Your last call comes, serene and clear, Calm may my answer be, “Lord, I am here.” OFFERING OURSELVES AND OUR GIFTS TO GOD(Pew envelopes, prayer request cards and visitor cards are located in the pew pockets for your convenience.)

Arise, Shine, For Your Light Is Come
Arise, shine, for thy Light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. Alleluia! Oh,
praise the Lord, all ye nations, and laud Him, all ye people! For His merciful kindness is great
toward us, and the truth of the Lord endureth forever. Alleluia!
*RESPONSE (from Hymn 542, Tallis’ Canon)Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise God, all creatures here below; Praise God above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. Lord, You Have Come to the Lakeshore Lord, you have come up to the lakeshore looking neither for wise or for wealthy. You only wanted that I should follow.
Refrain O Lord, with your eyes you have searched me, and while smiling, have called out my name. Now my boat's left on the shoreline behind me; Now with You I will seek other seas. In my boat, there’s no money or weapons; You’ll only find there; My nets and my labor. You need the caring of my hands, through my tiredness may other find resting, You need a love that just goes on loving. You, who have fished other oceans ever longed-for by souls who are waiting, My dear and good friend, as thus you call me.
