Smoking cessation
Quit to Win helps members develop a stop-smoking plan and gives the tools needed to succeed. Discounts are also
provided for nicotine replacement products. Options for counseling include individual telephonic, on-site 10-week
group course or community drop-in groups throughout FCHP’s service area.

Smoking cessation
HNE members with asthma, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and/or who are pregnant will be reimbursed $50 for
participation for smoking cessation classes that incur a fee.
HNE’s formulary offers coverage of most FDA approved smoking cessation drugs with applicable copay.
In collaboration with the Massachusetts Tobacco Cessation and Prevention Program HNE recommends their
website “Make Smoking History.”

NHP has produced a number of materials on wellness topics including smoking cessation. Members also have
access to NHP on-line interactive health and wellness tools through the Healthwise® Knowledgebase.
Smoking cessation
NHP's Smoking Cessation Program offers coverage of FDA-approved cessation medication and telephonic support
by a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist. For members with pharmacy coverage, all FDA-approved cessation
medications require a doctor’s prescription. Medications include the nicotine-based patch, gum, lozenge, inhaler,
and nasal spray as well as the prescription pills Bupropion and Chantix.
For medications, a 30-day supply is dispensed at one time. Quantity limit of 24 weeks on Chantix. No prior
authorizations required. Generic medications dispensed whenever available.

QuitSmart kit includes stop smoking guidebook, hypnosis CD, and cigarette substitute. In 4 studies QuitSmart has
produced quit rates of up to 66%. QuitSmart includes the treatments that most smokers want: hypnosis, a cigarette
substitute and recommendations for use of medications such as the nicotine patch or Zyban tablet.

various online programs which consist of readings and planners such as the Smoking Cessation Program.
This resource is highlighted in UniCare's Plan Resources and Discounts flyer which has been available at health
fairs and can be mailed directly to the member, as requested, through customer service. This flyer is also included in
welcome packages for new members. This year, the flyer will be included in the plan year renewal packages.

members with tobacco cessation
