Centre For Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC, Kolkata) is implementing a project titled “Applications of Digital Image Processing Technologies in Tasar Sericulture” in association with Professional Assistance for Development Action (PRADAN) and Tata Education Trust. The objectives of the projects are to address specific issues related to Tasar Sericulture through application of Electronic Technology. The initiative has been sponsored by 1) Application of Electronics for Agriculture & Environment (eAgiEn) program of Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY), Government of India and 2) Tata Education Trust (TET), Mumbai.
To address the core issues related to applied ICT Research in the field of Tasar Sericulture, we are going to organize this “One day Workshop on ICT Tasar Sericulture at the Seminar Hall, Hotel Mahadev Palace, B.Deoghar, Jharkhand on Novemeber 9th 2012 (Friday). Renowned Scientists, academicians, consultants along with representatives of silkworm producers, rearers, buyers, industrialists, representatives from policy making bodies and other stake holders in Tasar Sericulture are expected to be present in the workshop. After the end of in-house deliberations, a visit to Tasar Sericulture operations on the ground has been planned in the second half. A program for the workshop along with the contact details is enclosed for ready reference. Through the daylong interactions and brainstorming, crucial user feedback will be obtained for the ICT based prototypes developed under the above program. The workshop will be followed by inaugurations of newly developed field laboratory of PRADAN at Jharkhand and Lilibaran Lab situated at Banka District, Bihar and launching of the “Resham Darshan” system developed by C- DAC, Kolkata.
