Carers Week 2013 has launched today with new research of over 2,100 revealing that carers are being woefully let down by a lack of support when they first take on a caring role. The findings from the reportshow that support is not being made available to new carers with often devastating consequences.
Healthwatch England will be holding the third England public committee meeting which will take place on 12th June 2013 in Newcastle, Gateshead. They will be holding a public lunch in advance so attendees can meet committee members informally before the meeting.
NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) has already published a clinical guideline on the overall management of bipolar disorder in adults, children and adolescents. This new draft guidance focuses on the use of aripiprazole for the specific treatment of moderate to severe manic episodes in adolescents.
The number of people in the UK who will get cancer during their lifetime will increase to nearly half the population by 2020, a report has forecast. Macmillan
Cancer Support said the projected figure of 47% would put huge pressure on the NHS.
The Information Commissioner’s Office has warned of the need for better decommissioning practices in health services. It has imposed a monetary penalty of £100,000 after the discovery of a large number of patient records at a site formerly owned by Stockport Primary Care Trust.

Thorpe Hall is currently raising money for a new building for adults, their main project started in May and want to extend further for 20 beds.

On 26th May Peterborough based ‘Children of Adam’ wanted to raise money for the people in Syria by putting on a summer fete at Gladestone Community Park Centre. The money is being raised to provide sleeping bags, food, medicine, water pump and water tanks for those who are victims of war and oppression.
We were fortunate to have 15 new members register to hear more about the work of Healthwatch Peterborough and updates on events, training and focus group activity.
